I wish I could say this is a cheery, feel-good letter stuffed with pictures of our favorite PetCru pups. Not that we could even pick favorites; we couldn’t if we wanted to. We’ve met way too many of your amazing puppers to be able to do that.
For the past 2+ years, we’ve had the privilege of taking care of pets of all shapes, sizes, breeds, personalities, and… species (looking at you, Pig the Bearded Dragon). You’ve trusted us with your (mostly) furry family members, and we’ve loved every second of it. Every wagging tail waiting at the door, every mile walked, every belly rub, every pile of… OK, maybe we shouldn’t get too carried away here.
Every business is faced with challenges: business model, market, resources, infrastructure, personnel, etc. We’ve welcomed these challenges with open arms, evaluated them through the lens of pet parents’ priorities, and solved each one with creative tenacity. Unfortunately, the last (12) months have presented a much different challenge to our company: the exit of a co-founder.
After almost a full year of failed negotiations with the exiting co-founder, we’ve made the difficult decision to close our doors.
From the day we launched, our highest priority in every decision has been to provide a top-notch experience for you and your pets. So even as we begin to wind down our operations, we are going to hold true to that.
Here’s how we plan to do that:
December 3rd, 2016 will be the last day of PetCru operations. Any services beginning prior to that date will be fulfilled as normal, so don’t stress about your Thanksgiving travel plans. If you’ve already booked services beginning after December 3rd, those services will be cancelled and refunded to you this week. Please note refunds can take 3-5 business days to reflect on your statement.
Our Cru Members feel as attached to you and your pets as you do to them. Trust me, tears were shed as we wrestled through this with the team. Many of our Cru Members want to continue caring for your pets even after PetCru operations cease. After December 3rd, we are releasing Cru Members from their non-compete and non-solicitation agreements. This allows any Cru Member who wishes to continue providing services on their own to do so seamlessly. Please feel free to work through the details with them directly, keeping in mind that the transition will take place after December 3rd.
